Congratulations to Prof. John Aitchison, who has been appointed the president and director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research (CID Research) in Seattle, WA! With over 300 staff and over 100 partners, the CID is the largest non-profit organization in the US whose research is dedicated to the study of infectious diseases. Infectious diseases such as malaria affect over 200 million people globally1. Some of the world’s most vulnerable populations are severely affected, with little to no access to treatment. The CID is focused on developing vaccines and treatment options against such volatile diseases, in the hope of reducing their impact on human health in the near future.
We at the NCDIR congratulate Prof Aitchison on his new appointment and wish him all the best at the helm of the CID!
